Cottonwood Cider House
About
Cottonwood Cider House is a cidery and taproom near Ayr that calls itself North Dakota’s first cidery. Its cider is made from apples grown by Cottonwood Farm, a fourth-generation, family-owned farm that it describes as the largest commercial organic orchard of mixed fruit in the state. Stacy Nelson-Heising and Daniel Heising own it. Daniel manages the cider house and makes the cider, and Stacy manages the taproom and events and serves as head chef. The lineup ranges from fan-favorite ciders to experimental batches and new flavors. The ciders can be enjoyed in the taproom, bought at markets or ordered online. Weekend meals and Sunday brunch are served from menus that change through the season, along with non-alcoholic drinks and food for children. The same property has a restaurant called The Other House. The taproom is open seasonally, kids and dogs are welcome, and the cider house hosts private events.
